Twitter users are left amused by what could possibly be the shortest apology letter in a formal setting

An apology letter has been shared by a Twitter user and other users are amused by it.

The letter could possibly be the shortest apology letter in a formal setting. It is believed to have been written by a staff of the University of Uyo Teaching hospital and directed at the Chief Medical Director.

Asides the address of the sender and the receiver, the subject of the letter and the sign off, the writer of the letter only wrote two other words: "Sorry sir."

There was no explanation for why they came late neither was there a promise that the action won't be repeated.
See the short formal letter below.
